Construction Of An Rv
RV’s, or recreational vehicles, travel trailers, and campers, come in several different forms. Sliding can be aluminum or fiberglass, cabinets can be all wood or wood with laminate fronts, carpeted floors or no carpet, fiberglass or Styrofoam insulation, roofing of aluminum, vinyl, rubber or fiberglass, four different types of frames including tubular frames with aluminum or steel, stamped frames in steel, C-channel frames made from steel, I-bean construction made from steel.
In each of these areas, some of the choices depend on personal preference, but also are dependent on weight restrictions and/or requirements. Aluminum is lighter than fiberglass but not as strong or durable. With the framing, while weight is a factor, you want the frame to hold up to many years of use. Fiberglass has more durability than aluminum but tends to weigh more.
Carpeted flooring, while nice in most instances, will add quite a bit of weight to the RV. Wood cabinets or wood with laminate cabinets, the construction of the cabinets is of most importance. Poorly made cabinets will not last as long as a quality construction.
