Do Your Parrots Ignore Their Toys?
Parrots and birds as pets can be picky and finicky. Quite often we try to please our avian pets only to find their displeasure with the things we buy them. It’s possible that we may be projecting our wants thereby living vicariously through them.
How many times have you placed a new birds or parrots toys in your parrots cage only to find it left untouched and hanging as if it did not exist. This sometimes happens when I place a new toy in my Green Cheek Conures bird cage. If she ignores the toy for a very long time, (one week or more) I will move the toy uncomfortably close to her favorite perching spot. This forces her to come into contact with the toy even if she does not want to play with it. After a short amount of time, she will gradually begin tugging on it with her beak. Before long, Kiwi will be hanging upside down in a fit of playtime ecstasy and it will be her favorite new toy!
